The 2011 Critics Choice Awards

Hot damn. I need to get back into shape. It's awards season.

I have been really sick/busy/tired lately and haven't been up to par on the blogging. Apologies everyone.

Ok, shall we take a look at the Critics Choice Awards?

Annette Benning & Warren Beatty:
Have you seen 'The Kids Are All Right"? It's amazing. I'll admit, it's not for everyone, but it was really well acted and it's very real. Annette Benning and Julianne Moore play a lesbian/gayelle couple with 2 kids, via sperm donor. The same donor. In the kids' teens they decide they want to meet the biological father and the story is based on what happens.

Annette Benning is wonderful in it, as is Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo plays the donor and he's great too. It's a very touching story about real love between real people. Annette Benning is said to be the front runner for the Oscar along with Natalie Portman. She hasn't really been campaigning though, and Nat's been working that pregnant belly all over the place.

They are a lovely older couple though, aren't they? I wish they were my parents.

Emma Stone:
I can't really tell what she won for, but I think she might have accepted for 'Easy A'...which seems a bit silly. I mean, shouldn't the director or writer accept? I find that she looks so generic with the blonde hair, like I wasn't sure if she was Jaime King or someone else. I didn't think she was her.

Gunmetal looks nice though. And it seemed to be the color of the evening.
Eva Mendes:
I want those shoes. The dress makes her look pregnant, and then it makes me worried...for something work related...but those shoes.

That dress is fugly though. I feel like Rachel Zoe screwed up a bit. No one needs a bow that big on their shoulder. It's just ridiculous.

Jon Hamm:
Oh, Hamm and Bublé! You gotta love Jon Hamm. But really, he should put his Blackberry or camera in another pocket than the front one though. It's distractingly rectangular.

Love his tie. LOVE it. And love the goofy, gummy smile.

Julianne Moore:
Oh! Those shoes. I love those shoes. I believe firmly that I should own those shoes.

The dress, I can live without. While I hope and pray that I look a fraction as good as she does when I'm her age, the dress is a little too architectural and harsh for my taste. I don't like how it builds out at her hips.

Hot damn she looks good though.
Justin Bieber:
Really child, really???
Ugh.
I'm so over it.
Kim Kardashian:
I don't think I've ever seen her face look more beautiful. I don't know if she got work done, but she looks great.

The dress is not great...it's pulling in weird places and wasn't tailored particularly well, but the color is pretty, the hem is great, and her hair looks fab.

I call this a win.

But seriously - WTF is she doing there???

Michelle Williams:
That hem just gave me the shivers. I really dislike it. A lot. I kind of wish her dress was short, because the fabric looks kinda boardy and stiff and the hem...I really don't like that.

Mila Kunis:
Super cute. The shoes are adorable, the dress is very cute - if not a bit too frilly - and the accessories are appropriate. I would have liked to see her hair down though, the updo is a little overdone on her, and she has beautiful hair.

Natalie Portman & Amy Adams:
Awww, so cute! Nat is rocking the baby bump (and she won for best actress) and looking cute, Amy is wearing something gunmetal toned and her hair is lovely and soft. I like thinking that they're friends.
Nicole Kidman:
This is an interesting picture. She's normally so stuffy. And now that she's admitted to Botox'ing her forehead, I like her a bit more. But she claims she hasn't in a long time. Mmm hmm.

I don't care for that dress. What is that weird shawl feature at the neck? I do not like that.

Ryan Gosling:
Um, delicious. He looks bloody delicious. Like he should be starring in a movie about Hugh Hefner's life.

Lovely work Ryan.

Sofia Vergara:
Ohhh, I was so ready to like this gunmetal dress, and then I saw her shoes. I don't like those shoes with that dress. They're too bland, she needs something sandal-y. And yes, I know that it's winter but those shoes just really don't work.

Wait a sec, I just scrolled up. I hate that dress. I like that it's gunmetal, but that detail at the waist is unflattering, the length is weird and it's all punctuated by the fugly shoes. Hmm. I am displeased by this.

Tilda Swinton:
This woman is a gem. Those shoulders, those legs. Fantastic. She tries some crazy things and she pulls them off because she's so fabulous. I love her.

Well, that's about it. It was short but sweet, and it ended in Swinton. Could we ask for more?
