The 2014 CFDA Awards

So, the CFDA awards were this week and Rihanna was honoured...and she pushed the envelope. Which is technically why she was honoured. But still.

This is what she wore.

It's a Swarovski crystal covered nude mesh dress. Of course. This is why she's the one who won the award. Because she takes risks. And this seems even more pointed considering she just closed her Instagram account because they kept suspending her account because of nipples being in them.

Here you go Instagram. Here's your F U.

Alessandra Ambrosio:
YAWN.
You hae one of the best bodies in the world. You couldn't do better than this?

Blake Lively:
This is very MOD. Something about the mini dress and the headband are making me think 60's. But then she offsets it with those pumps (that I want) and those weird bangles.

I don't love it.

Dree Hemmingway:
This is a dress. It's DVF. Obviously. I'm not a fan of the sideburns, but whatevs.

Jamie King:
I don't know about this. I adore the shoe, but the fringe on the dress looks really heavy and it kind of goes against the mesh panels. Her make-up is ok.

Jennifer Hudson:
Her hair is really not good here. It's very Janet from 'Three's Company', during the bad part. This dress is really not doing it for me. She looks really unhappy in it and I think I'm absorbing her unhappiness.

Jessica Stam:
I like this. I wish I could see her sandals more, but on the other hand I do love a shoe eating pant, right Lady V? It's a little too casual maybe. No?

Keri Russel:
I'm confused. Is that a Baby Bjorn? It's kind of too bad about that weird drapey piece, because without it it would be amazing.

Lupita Nyong'O:
Of course Lupita is wearing the hottest cropped pant look. And despite me hating this outfit because it is officially ugly, she's so pretty and happy and has such a great ring on her left hand that I love the photo. Just not that horrific set she's wearing.

Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen:
Admittedly, I never have a clue which is which. I love the dress on the left and the shoes on the right. And the inverse I do not like.

So there.

Olivia Palermo:
I think I read that she's in head-to-toe Ann Taylor. I love the skirt. I would have LOVED for it to be paired with a white tshirt or something instead. That top is odd. Is it hair?

Olivia Wilde:
I don't know how she ended up being the only one not shot on the red carpet, but I think she won the night. She's wearing vintage Halston (formerly belonged to Angelica Huston - amazing vintage pic here). Like, how do you not win?

Amazing.

Rachel Zoe:
This is surprisingly less amazing. It's apparently custom Rachel Zoe, but I feel like the fabric is really misled. It's so stiff and tapestry-ish. And so severe for June. Like, take it down a notch. It just looks SO uncomfortable and unforgiving. She can do better.

Solange Knowles:
First time she's been out and about since the elevator incident (aka the Met Brawl)

I love this dress. She looks amazing.
