Randy & Evi Quaid Seem Legitimately Mentally Ill

Have you heard about the crazy story of Randy and Evi Quaid? Arrested a year or so ago for skipping out on a $10k hotel bill, then arrested more recently for squatting and vandalizing one of their former homes they claimed still belonged to them...then, instead of showing up for court dates, they escaped to Canada and are seeking asylum.

They claim their troubles are due to a secret Hollywood mafia who is trying to steal Randy's money and who are responsible for the deaths of David Carradine, Heath Ledger and many more mishaps...

Reading this story, I totally recognize the symptoms of an untreated schizophrenic. Evi Quaid is clearly mentally ill and suffering from some kind of paranoia...I find it really irresponsible that the Canadian authorities who are holding them aren't subjecting them to any kind of mental health check.

The other scary thing about this whole Randy & Evi Quaid tale is that Randy seems to have these moments of lucidity and if he's not mentally ill, what is wrong with him? He clearly adores his wife...but enough to support these delusions?

This story is a very interesting read, though I do find it disturbing on many levels. Totally worth the read though, do it.
