Michelle Dockery's Dress - 2014 Emmys

I say a lot of things, and I carry through on so fewer.

But remember when I said I wasn't sure about Michelle Dockery's dress at the Emmys? And then I was rhapsodizing about the 70's?

Look whose home on ilnness leave (post-surgery) and had time to actually mock it up.

Part of me feels like the the deepest pink panel should also be black, and then the 2 remaining pink shades should be the two deeper shades...I'm too lazy to fix it now

The 2014 Emmy's Red Carpet Post #2

Here we go again! Here are the people I missed or just ignored last night :)

By all accounts, the show was boring. The same people and shows keep winning and it's not exciting to watch Sofia Vergara get excited 3 years in a row. Like, really, did Jim Parsons have to win for the 4th time? No. Let's be honest.

Angela Bassett:
I like this dress. Especially on her and especially with that hair. It's pretty great. I would look like a total doof in this unless it was black.

Cat Deely:
I feel like this is what Lena Dunham's dress could have been. This is a really pretty ombre effect, this is an elegant watercolor.

I loathe that snake bracelet though. Doesn't go at all.

Claire Danes:
Just once I would love to see her wear something that fits well. Everything always looks too big on her. Like, this is not well tailored at the bust or the waist or the hips. She looks like she's swimming in it. Oh, and it's ugly. I hate this. It belongs on a Muppet.

Giuliana Rancic:
I only put this to show her hair. Like, REALLY? Ugh.

Gwen Stefani:
Another one who knocked it out of the park 2 nights in a row. Separates? Hot. Cut outs? Hot. Slinky? Hot.

She looks great, but I wonder why she's attending the Emmy's...what does she need with publicity amongst TV people?

Halle Berry:
Always Elie Saab. Always beautiful. And you should have seen it move. She looks gorgeous, as always. This color is amazing on her. Very beautiful.

Julia Roberts:
I like when she shows up to awards shows now. Because she clearly doesn't care anymore and is just having fun. This dress, is horrible. It should have been long, it's too puffy - BUT the fact that she is having a ball in it makes me like her more. Not the dress. It looks like shiny bacteria on a terrible DVF rip off.

Kate Mara:
This is a little too destroyed for my taste, but it's not horrible. I wish it didn't have that wrap at her boobs, and I wish I didn't see how contorted her feet are for her to pose like that. That looks painful.

Kate Mara:
I don't know why there is so much air space above her head in the picture, but it's making her neck look really pushed down and her head look super flat. Actually, that's her hair. It's really bad. It's too bad, because the rest is really nicely put together.

Katherine Heigl:
What the hell is she wearing? Imagine being in 90 degree Los Angeles heat in this thing? You'd be sweating just at the thought of sweating. It's like the fanciest nightgown from Dallas EVER. Also, her hair makes me barf. She's the worst.

Kristen Wiig:
She gets it wrong A LOT. But not this time. This is great. I love it and she looks gorgeous. I also love those shoes.

Lizzy Kaplan:
Took me a while to find a good picture of this dress. It's really great. And then she sat in her seat all night, which is a real pity, because this was pretty to see in movement.

Louise Roe:
Too bad about her face. This dress is kind of great. And she's done it well with the slicked back hair and the non metallic shoe. I like this. But that smirk. Jesus. It's scary as hell.

Lucy Lui:
Awww, remember her? She has such great hair. This dress is gross and I feel like she deserves better, but I really like her. I don't want to hate it. But I do.

Matthew McConaughey & Camilla Alves:
I like the shade of blue of his suit. I do not like her dress, but I can't pinpoint why. It migt be the neckline...or the fact that it seems really overdone....can't place it. Any ideas?

Mindy Kaling:
It's too bad about this stripe looking like a zipper because I like what it's doing. And she looks really great in the color and I like it on the belt. It's just everywhere else it's yelling 'zipper' to me and no one wants to have "zipper" yelled at them.

Sarah Silverman:
See, but now we all know she has a marijuana vaporizer in that little clutch it's all we can focus on. I'm happy for her that her hair behaved, because that could have been really large.

Sibel Kekilli:
She's not really a huge character on Game of Thrones, but I really like this dress so I decided to post it. Her hair is a little to casual for me, it brings down the dress too much. But I like the dress. I like that belt.

Sofia Vergara:
She looks really thin, no? I don't know if it's just the instance the camera caught, or if she's really this thin, but apparently latin people are really annoyed with her and how much she is changing her body and ignoring her Colombian roots and keeping her bum.

She looks nice, I like the metallic accents and it's nice not to see her in something voluminous for once.

Taryn Manning:
Aww, Pennsatucky. Your hair. It's so bad. And your dress, it's too short. You know, aside from those things, I really like what's happening here. How could I not? It's super disco. But those things are ruining it for me. Especially the hair. OMG. Whose choice was that? A slicked back pony could have been so much better.

Zooey Deschanel:
Awww. It's really too bad about her hair. Because it's really bad. Like, super bad. I mean, this dress, it's nothing really. It's nothing new, it's not exciting, I don't even think it's the first time she wore bright pink. It's overall not good.

The 2014 Emmy's Red Carpet - Post 1

Ok, I'm starting tonight because there are WAY too many people attending this thing. Stupid TV...

Allison Williams:
God she annoys me. I think it's partly because she will always only be Marnie to me, but it may also because she shows up to things wearing outfits like this. Like, you're SO precious, aren't you. Such a perfect angel lady. Ugh.

This is the ugliest napkin I've seen people wear in a while.

Allison Janney:
She's just the best. And while I don't LOVE this, there is something so 1979 - 1984 glam about this that I can't deny it. Plus, it's her. So win-win.

Amanda Peet:
Well, this is kind of sweet. And you know what? If she wasn't pregnant, I'd be really annoyed. But since she's pregnant it's ok. Now, what is NOT ok is the below zoom of her hair.

What are these bangs? These are not good.

Amy Poehler:
She's so great. I mean. Look at her. I feel like this is kind of what Iggy Azalea was trying to do last night at the VMA's.
I feel like Amy Poehler has won the Emmy's. SHUT IT DOWN.

Anna Chlumsky:
Well. I also love this. A lot. It's sleek, it's clean, she is accessorized super well. It's great.

Her hand looks weird though, no?

Anna Gunn:
Meh. What is this? A recycled piece? It's Breaking Bad's last Emmy's and this is what she picks? I feel like she should have done better. And deserved better.

Chelsea Peretti:
Aww. I really wanted to like this. And it's not that I don't, particularly, it's just that she looks like she isn't breathing. And that she managed to dislocate her right shoulder while getting out of the car or something.

Are those shoes epic? I think I need them.

Christina Hendricks:
I mean, she wears red A LOT. And A LOT of people wore red. And I don't mean that in a good way. Like, it's an overwhelming amount of red. And this dress is a lot.

If you scroll from the top I feel like there is a lot of potential from her hair to her earrings. And then you hit this taffeta mess of a dress that I feel like I've seen a million times and a million times ON HER.
Blech.

Christine Baranski:
Like, can she ever not be amazing? She's another Allison Janney. She can do no wrong. So elegant. OMG. Look at her hair. Amazing.

Debra Messing:
This is something. And I like it. It's less annoying than most things she normally wears and her hair looks really great, not overly done and not pin straight matchy-matchy with the dress. I like this a lot.

Edie Falco:
Like, can we please with her? She looks so beautiful. She's another one with Janney and Baranksi. I can't. They're perfect, beautiful, strong women.

Hayden Panettiere:
This is really lovely. It's almost like what Taylor Swift will be wearing when she gets pregnant. And those too are pretty much the same. Kind of the human yawns of Hollywood. I like this for a pregnant lady. She looks glowy and pretty.

Heidi Klum:
Well, this is lovely. And not nearly as annoying as the thing she wore to the creative Emmy's. Yessss, I know it was the season's winning outfit on Tim Gunn Is the Best (that's the name of the show, right?) but it was annoying. I mean, look

I love this. It's making her glow, I love the faux capelet. The color is great. I love it.

January Jones:
This is really epic...but not in a way that I like. More in a "hey I'm wearing a sofa and it's not really falling right and that's why I look really sullen. Oh, well, the tapesty and my bangs which look greasy and kind of yellow in color. What's up with that?"

Those shoes look mega uncomfortable.

Jessica Pare:
What is going on with her body in this dress? This is hideously unflattering to her. She needs to take it home and cut it to shreds using pinking shears because this dress is a devil.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus:
The only woman who is allowed to wear red as many times as she wants. She is amazing and I love her.

Juliana Marguiles:
Another rare slip...this one normally looks amazing, but this is not doing good things for her below her natural waist. Like, what's that weird lumpy effect happening to her hip area? Gah. And her hair: from this angle it looks like an afterthought.

What's up with this?

Julie Bowen:
Is this actually blurry around her waist or am I having a stroke? I really like her hair. I actually like this dress too, but her try is making it hurt me. Oh god, why am I so mean? Fine, it's great.

Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting:
Sometimes, if you're built like a linebacker, you shouldn't wear tube dresses. Oh no, wait. That's ALWAYS. GOD YOU RIDICULOUS WOMAN, STOP DRESSING SO POORLY. This new haircut is killing me too. She wants it to be fun and kicky and it's just annoying.

She's the worst.

Kelly Osbourne:
Speaking of the worst...look whose hair is still purple after many complaints from me and my friends. This dress is annoying to me. Not because it's not ok, but just because it kind of doesn't work on her. The sleeves are weird and they're hurting my feelings.

To be fair, she could wear my wedding dress and I would tell you she looks terrible.

Kerry Washington:
Welllllll, isn't this LOVELY? This is great. I love the piping on the seams, I love the contrast flashing underskirt. She is good. She killed it. Great.

Kiernan Shipka:
You're too young for me to care.

Laura Prepon:
What in the holy hell is this? Her hair says "doing laundry" and her dress says "I am trying to murder your soul". Jesus. You know, for someone who was exposed to a lot of great fashion over her career as a model, she sucks at getting dressed.

Laverne Cox:
Killed it again. 2 nights in a row. I don't love the little pave clips at the cape, because they're either flowers or butterflies, but that is my only complaint. Amazing.

Lena Dunham:
Sooo, she can't drive right? Like, we're acknowledging as a society that her eyesight is definitely failing her and we hope not to see her commandeering a vehicle any time soon. Because anyone who does this to their hair, then wears this should not be allowed to be responsible for a heavy metal thing that can be pointed at pedestrians.

I will, however, be ok with someone pointing one at her.

Lena Headey:
Just as we hear that she's not allowed to go topless in Croatia, she wears a dress that seems to mourn that thing that GOT nerds are getting all upset about today. She looks really bummed.  This dress is meh. Very meh.

Mayim Bialik:
I. HAVE. NO. WORDS.
Just why?

Melissa McCarthy:
This seems a bit severe. Like, it's a lot of fabric all over the place.I don't know. I find she has, like, a 50/50 hit rate on wearing things. And it's not that there is anything wrong with this. It's just not doing anything for me. Also, the fact that the wheels of the backdrop are at either side of her skirt are making something really not work for me.

Michelle Dockery:
I'm not sure about this one yet. Can I think about it?
Because, I think I want to like it. But then it makes me think that she just wrapped a lesser-known country's flag around her and left...but it's kind of working. And maybe it's just the colors that aren't good. Like imagine if it was black with shades of deep pink...very 70's glam...I dunno. Thoughts?

Michelle Monaghan:
I like it. For some reason you cannot do wrong in white for me. Although the weird thing happening to her toe right now is freaking me out while I type. Is she wearing pointe shoes?

Minnie Driver:
I saw a close up of her being interviewed and I could straight up tell you the size of her areolas. This dress is super clingy. Like, Marchesa couldn't put a little liner in the cups to prevent me from being able to tell you what Minnie Driver's nips look like?

It's red...

Natalie Dormer:
This is good. And she owning the hell out of it. Like, she knows she looks good. I like her little smirky face. It's kind of great.
I'm voting yes on this one.

Natasha Lyonne:
She looks like I feel when people make me dress up in business clothes. Like a cat wearing a sweater. Not comfortable.

Rose Leslie:
That hair do is not doing her any favors. It is making her head look like a jelly bean. WTF!?
This dress is the Nyquil of the Emmy's. It's making me sleepy in the dangerous way where I forget to breathe.

Samira Wiley:
I hate this a lot, but I love her, so there.

Sarah Hyland:
I have decided after this and last night that Sarah Hyland got a new stylist and she should keep them because they are great and doing great things for her. This is great, age appropriate and she looks super cute. That hair is really adorable on her.

Sarah Paulson:
Just STOP COMING TO THINGS. Because you don't know how to dress and it's getting to be exhausting having to constantly comment on your terrible outfit choices. CHILDREN chose better dresses than you.

Taissa Farmiga:
Hey! Sarah Paulson - look! A child chose a better dress than you.
I like this. It's playful and different. It's not necessarily nice, but she needs a little time to feel that out. I like what she chose makes sense for her age and fashion chops.

Taylor Schilling:
I really like this. I like the drape and the cling I like the non color and the shimmer. I like the ease of the cut, I like how glam it is without being overdone. I like!

I'm not crazy about the hair, but that's ok.

Ok - that's it for tonight! I'll be back tomorrow with anyone I missed and show bits!
